I. Heavy rain in New South Wales in Australia causes the worst floodings since 1961. Some villages have to be evacuated completely.
II. 21-year-old Robert Aaron Long buys a hand gun at a firearms store and a few hours later kills eight people in three massage parlors or spas in Georgia, USA. Six victims are Asian women.
III. Indian Farmers are protesting for more than a year now against a new law. They fear that the bill will leave them at the mercy of corporates and will remove minimum pricing for agricultural products. After the numbers of protesters were dwindling because of the second wave of the Covid pandemic and harvest season there are now 40 000 farmers at protest sites outside of Delhi.
IV. Students are having spring break parties on the beach in Texas and Florida, USA, despite the Corona pandemic. There are more than 50 000 Corona infections per day in the USA with over 540 000 casualties so far.
V. The Turkish government pulls out of the Istanbul convention, the first international treaty to prevent and combat violence against women. Thousands are taking to the streets in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir to demand a reversal of this decision.
VI. Hundreds of people are marching through the streets of central London, Great Britain, to rally against lockdown rules. Over 17 million British citizens are already vaccinated.
